Dar propina en México

Lo primero que debemos saber es que la propina no es obligatoria en México, es decir, los restaurantes no suelen coger el 10% de servicio como sí sucede en otros países.
Ahora, es recomendado entregar de forma voluntaria entre 10% y 15% del consumo total de la comida como síntoma de buena voluntad y de que se ha disfrutado mucho el producto consumido.
Eso sí, es importante conocer que en un país que tiene bastantes problemas económicos y en el que los sueldos no suelen alcanzar a los empleados para sus cosas personales, los trabajadores de los establecimientos suelen depender mucho de las propinas que dejan las personas que visitan los restaurantes, que hacen excursiones o que se quedan en los hoteles del país.
De todas formas, el dar o no propina simplemente es elección de ustedes y de lo bien o mal que se han podido sentir durante su estadía en ese lugar (por ejemplo, si disfrutaron de la comida y del servicio en un restaurante, si te trataron bien durante el tour o si dejaron su hotel muy limpio y te ayudaron con las maletas).

¿Cuánto hay que dar de propina en los restaurantes en México?

Como se comentaba previamente, en el caso de los restaurantes suele recomendarse dar entre 10% y 15% de lo consumido. Como es totalmente opcional, algunas personas deciden muchas veces dejar solamente el 5% y, en otros casos, también pueden decidir dejar un 20% de propina.
La cantidad de propina a dejar dependerá de algunas cosas: del trato recibido por parte del mesero, de cómo nos sentimos en el local e incluso de la calidad de la comida consumida (esto no tiene mucho que ver con el mesero, pero, muchas veces influye en nuestra decisión de dejar propina).

Propina en excursiones o tours por México

Por otro lado, cuando nos encontramos en algún tipo de excursión o tour la cosa es un poco diferente. Debemos entender que a pesar de que quien nos presta el servicio puede estar cobrando por ello, quizás lo que la persona reciba es poco para lo mucho que puede entregarnos.
Teniendo esto en cuenta, si hemos disfrutado nuestra excursión y el guía turístico se ha portado muy bien con nosotros, es recomendable dejarle propina. ¿La cantidad? Depende mucho del tipo de tour o excursión, en caso de ser el día completo podríamos dejarle hasta 10$.

Propinas en los hoteles de México

Finalmente llegamos a los hoteles, en este caso debemos saber que muchos hoteles importantes del país incluyen la propina dentro del cobro total. Teniendo eso en cuenta, entregar una propina de entre 1$ a 5$ a quien nos ayuda con las maletas, a quien limpia el cuarto y a quien mantiene el hotel funcionando es algo bastante recomendable.
